Access Faculty Rank, Tenure, and Promotion Information

Important Note:

  • Follow the instructions in this job aid to view individual faculty Rank, Tenure, and Promotion information. Business Managers can view information for multiple faculty members by running the Faculty Employee Detail Report.

  • Faculty and Staff can add/update their Licenses and Certifications and Degree information by selecting the Skills and Qualifications tile in the Me section of Bronco Hub.

  • Provost Office and the HR Processor team are working with college business managers to obtain and update accurate faculty rank, tenure, and promotion data in HCM through summer 2025. Faculty rank, tenure, and promotion data may be incomplete until fall 2025.

Step 1: Log in to Bronco Hub and Locate Directory

  1. Log in to Bronco Hub from my.boisestate.edu.

  2. Access Me from the top navigation section of Bronco Hub.

  3. Select the Directory icon.

If you are a Business Manager or a Department Recruitment Coordinator and you cannot access the Directory tile, please work with your supervisor to submit a Boise State Access Request.

Step 2: Search for a Person and navigate to Skills and Qualifications

  1. Enter the name of a faculty member within your college in the Search for a Person search bar and select their name in the dropdown.

If the person you are searching for does not populate in the Search for a Person dropdown, select the Advanced Search option so that additional search criteria can be added.
If an organizational chart appears, select the appropriate faculty member’s name to proceed.

  1. Select Show More on the left side of the page.

Step 3: Navigate To and Expand Academic Rank and Tenure sections

  1. To expand the Academic Rank, select the carat (v) symbol on the right of the section. Applicable details will be displayed for the expanded section.

Carat symbol is outlined in the upper right corner of the screenshot. The Academic Rank is outlined on the left side of the screenshot.
  1. To expand the Tenure section, select the carat (v) symbol on the right side of the section. To expand the section further to view Tenure information, select the smaller carat (v) symbol in the lower right corner.

The Tenure section is relevant for non-tenure track faculty.

Tenure Status Details are available. Fields include Last Updated Date, Tenure Status, Credit for Prior Experience (Years), Track Start Date, Tenure Eligibility Date, Granted Date, Last Periodic Review Date, Next Periodic Review Date, Adjustment Years.

Field Definitions:

  • Tenure Status: Denied, Not Applicable, On Track, Tenured

  • Credit for Prior Experience (Years): Expressed numerically. Blank value indicates N/A

  • Track Start Date: The date on which an academic faculty member officially began their tenure track position.

  • Tenure Eligibility Date: Date when a faculty member becomes eligible to be considered for tenure.

  • Granted Date: The date tenure was awarded.

  • Last Periodic Review Date: (only applies to Tenured faculty): The date when a tenured faculty member's 5-year post-tenure review was last completed.

  • Next Periodic Review Date: (only applies to Tenured faculty): The date is based on when a faculty member can receive tenure. It repeats in five year cycles until tenure is granted.

Step 4: Navigate To and Expand the Promotion Eligibility section

Follow the same process outlined in Step 3 for navigating to and accessing the Promotion Eligibility section.

Promotion Eligibility Details are available. The fields include Last Updated Date, Promotion Eligible, Action, Eligibility Date, and Promotion Granted Date.

Field Definitions:

  • Promotion Eligible: Promote to Lecturer II, Promote to Lecturer III, Promote to Associate, Promote to Assistant, Promote to Full, Highest promotion achieved, Highest promotion for degree level.

  • Eligibility Date: When a faculty member becomes eligible to be considered for a promotion. To see how this date was generated, please view the Tenure and Promotion Calculator tool.

  • Promotion Granted Date: Date last promotion was granted; example: 1/1/2025.
