Access Faculty Rank, Tenure, and Promotion Information

Important Note:

  • Follow the instructions in this job aid to view individual faculty Rank, Tenure, and Promotion information. Business Managers can view information for multiple faculty members by running the Faculty Employee Detail Report.

  • Faculty and Staff can add/update their Licenses and Certifications and Degree information by selecting the Skills and Qualifications tile in the Me section of Bronco Hub.

Step 1: Log in to Bronco Hub and Locate Skills and Qualifications

  1. Log in to Bronco Hub.

  2. Access My Team from the top navigation section of Bronco Hub.

  3. Select Quick Actions (Show More).

  4. Navigate to Career and Performance and select Skills and Qualifications.

Step 2: Search for a Person

Remove the Direct Reports tag/filter for a comprehensive search.

  1. Enter the name of a faculty member within your college in the Search for a Person search bar and select the faculty member.

Step 3: Navigate To and Expand Acacemic Rank and Tenure

  1. To expand the Academic Rank, select the carat (v) symbol on the right of the section. Applicable details will be displayed for the expanded section.

  1. To expand the Tenure section, select the carat (v) symbol on the right side of the section. To expand the section further to view Tenure information, select the smaller carat (v) symbol in the lower right corner.

The Tenure section is relevant for non-tenure track faculty. For example, if you are reviewing a Clinical faculty member, the Tenure section is where you will find Credit for Prior Experience and Track Start Date.

Field Definitions:

  • Tenure Status: Denied, Not Applicable, On Track, Tenured

  • Credit for Prior Experience (Years): Expressed numerically. Blank value indicates N/A

  • Track Start Date: The date on which an academic faculty member officially began their tenure track position.

  • Tenure Eligibility Date: Date when a faculty member becomes eligible to be considered for tenure.

  • Granted Date: The effective date of tenure is typically the start of the pay period for the academic year following the faculty member’s Tenure Eligibility Date.

  • Last Periodic Review Date: (only applies to Tenured faculty): The date when a tenured faculty member's 5-year post-tenure review was last completed.

  • Next Periodic Review Date: (only applies to Tenured faculty): The date is based on when a faculty member can receive tenure. It repeats in five year cycles until tenure is granted.

The definitions above correspond with Tenure data fields in the Skills and Qualifications page. If you cannot find a data field for a faculty member in the Skills and Qualifications Tenure section, that means the data field is blank.

For incomplete or incorrect tenure, rank, or promotion data, please consult with the faculty member’s unit supervisor and college business manager to verify the correct data. Once data is verified, business managers may then reach out to the HR Processing Team at hrprocessor@boisestate.edu to request the data update. Please include the tenureandpromotion@boisestate.edu team.

Step 4: Navigate To and Expand the Promotion Eligibility Section

Follow the same process outlined in Step 3 for navigating to and accessing the Promotion Eligibility section.

Field Definitions:

  • Promotion Eligible: Promote to Lecturer II, Promote to Lecturer III, Promote to Associate, Promote to Assistant, Promote to Full, Highest promotion achieved, Highest promotion for degree level.

  • Eligibility Date: When a faculty member becomes eligible to be considered for a promotion. To see how this date was generated, please view the Tenure and Promotion Calculator tool.

  • Promotion Granted Date: Date last promotion was granted; example: 1/1/2025.

The definitions above correspond with Promotion Eligibility data fields in the Skills and Qualifications page. If you cannot find a data field for a faculty member in the Skills and Qualifications Promotion Eligibility section, that means the data field is blank.

Policy 4250 (Lecturer)
